What should I wear?
Clothes. That’s our only request. We are much more concerned about what’s going on inside of a person, than what they are wearing on the outside. If it helps you out, our pastors usually don't wear ties, except for weddings. So just come as you are.
What's the music like?
A pipe organ didn't fit in our budget, nor would it fit our personality (no offense). Our live band usually consists of guitar, drums, percussion, bass, keys, and occasionally a violin. Sometimes we get crazy and pull out a hammer dulcimer or accordion - just for kicks. No robes. No oratorios, whatever that is. We try to sing songs that are deep in meaning while still allowing room for worship from the heart - to truly attempt to worship in spirit and in truth. It's all about God here, not us.
Do my kids sit with me?
They are welcome to, but we have stuff for them too! We have age-appropriate classes for children 5th grade and under during the worship service. Guided by experienced teachers, your children will learn about God in a relevant way, as well as uncover some fun experiences that will help the teaching come alive in their hearts. The first Sunday of each month, we have "Family Day" in which the kids (except nursery) join with their families in the main service.
Will I be asked to give money?
If it’s your first time, we actually want you to keep your wallet in your pocket. Just come and experience a service at Living Word. If you like it and want to call it your church home, then we believe giving financially to God and His church is the right thing to do as part of the family. It's really up to you if and when you decide to worship through giving.
Will I be bored?
We sure hope not! A life with Jesus should be fulfilling, rewarding and exciting! We strategically plan our gatherings to engage your heart, mind and soul. We use whatever means necessary - including music, video, powerful teaching and other experiential elements to help you connect to God in a meaningful way. We're not scared of emotions, but we won't use them to trick you or manipulate you either - intimacy with God changes people - we don't.
What is the overall environment like?
We try to make you feel welcome as you put yourself in the position to connect with God. We even provide fresh coffee and a continental breakfast bar, comfortable seating, and a casual environment that will set the tone for you to be more focused on God, and less concerned about the atmosphere around you. You won't be asked to stand up and introduce yourself. Just come and be yourself. God likes you, and we will too.
We understand church may be a little different to you, that’s why we try very hard to help you feel at home while you're at Living Word.
Come as you are; you'll be loved!
