Parents Day OutOur Purpose

Our purpose is to provide a safe, nurturing environment that promotes physical, social, cognitive, and spiritual development of young children in a Christian environment. Each Tuesday & Thursday children will experience action-packed days with Bible stories, learning activities, crafts and more. Come join us!

Age

This program is for children ages 6 weeks old through 5 years old.

Dates and Times

Parents Day Out meets on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 9am to 2pm.

The program will be held at Living Word Church. 930 25th St., Cleveland, TN 37311. The program will follow the Cleveland City / Bradley County School District inclement weather policy. LWC’s Parents Day Out program is a year round program.

LWC Parents Day Out observes the following holidays:

  • President's Day
  • Martin Luther King's birthday
  • Good Friday
  • Easter Monday
  • Memorial Day
  • Week of July 4th
  • Thanksgiving Day and the days before & after
  • Christmas Vacation (Usually the week of Christmas and the week after Christmas)

The Program

Your child will participate (age appropriately) in a variety of activities such as:

  • Working with paints, play dough, crayons, blocks, and other manipulative materials.
  • Listening to Bible stories and activities generated from them.
  • Learning to share, take turns, plan, work, think, and reason as he or she works and plays with others.
  • Learning to respond to music and sing songs.
  • Acquiring good health and hygiene habits.

Fees and Registration

  • $15.00 registration fee will be charged per child, per year to reserve a spot for your child in the program.
  • $20.00 supply fee will be charged per child, per year.
  • Drop-in fees are $20.00 per day, per child, which is due daily and based on availability of space. To check on available space, please call 339-3028 between 9:00-9:30am.
  • Fees: $15.00 per day, per child. Cost of second child $13.00.
  • Payments will be due 1st school day of the month.
  • Late Fees: $10.00 will be assessed if fees are not paid by the following week. If fees are not paid, the child will not be readmitted to the program until fees are paid. This will require the child to re-enroll or be placed on a waiting list. To re-enroll, a new registration fee must be paid.
  • PAID FEES ARE NON REFUNDABLE
  • Late Pick Up Fee: a late charge is assessed if a child is picked up any time after 2:15pm. There is an initial charge of $5.00 and a $1.00 per minute after thereafter.
  • We will accept checks, money orders or cash for tuition.
  • There will be a $25.00 fee for any insufficient checks.
  • Two weeks notice of withdrawal from the program will be required. If notice is not given you will be responsible for payment of fees for these two weeks.


If your child will be absent, please notify the office as early as possible and no later than 10:00am. An absence is any missed day with notification or without, whether for illness, vacation, emergency, etc. We will be happy to work with you to arrange a make-up day based on space available. We do charge for absences so that we can continue to keep our teachers to student ratios low.

Parents Day OutItems To send With Child

Toddler/Preschool:

• Blanket/pillow, mat and sheet for rest time
• Nutritious sack lunch, finger foods – no peanut products of any kind.
• Drink – juice (please avoid red or dark colored juice) or milk in lunch box with ice pack
• Change of clothes and pull-ups (if appropriate)

Infants:

• Bottles, formula, snack, food for lunch, diapers, ointment, change of clothes
• Pacifier, blankets, etc. as appropriate
• Completed feeding / nap schedule

Note: As we want to protect all children form potential allergy issues the classrooms are a “peanut free” zone. Therefore the only food items allowed in the classroom are the children’s bagged lunches.

Clothing and Possessions

  • Following lunch, all age groups will have a rest period. Please send a towel or foam pad for your child to rest on.
  • Mark any removable clothing, books, toys or other items with your child’s name.
  • Dress your child in clothing that is durable and comfortable. Select shoes that give support and allow freedom of movement.
  • Please bring a change of clothing for all children not toilet trained and enough disposable diapers for the day.
  • Please send wipes, diaper cream, etc. for children in diapers and label each item with the child’s name.
  • Please bring extra pants/panties for potty-trained two and three year olds (accidents do happen).
  • All toys are to be left at home.
  • Comfort toys (bears, blankets, etc) may be brought if needed. Please be sure they have your child’s name attached.

Snacks and Meals

Because of serious allergies: Peanut Butter will not be served or used in the PDO program. If any questions please see the staff.

Mid-morning snacks are provided.

Lunch: Send a sack lunch. Please mark your child’s name on the outside of the bag or lunch box. If a child needs a utensil please enclose them with the child’s lunch. Lunches will not be refrigerated or heated.

Drink: We will provide water, or you may send a drink with your child.

One-year-old class: please bring a plastic sippy cup or plastic bottles with the child’s name marked on the outside. Our teachers will feed NO previously opened jars of baby food to an infant. Have name on outside of the diaper bags.

Birthdays

Birthdays are special! We will celebrate at morning snack time. You may share party cookies, cupcakes or whatever you choose. Please schedule the day with your Child’s teacher.

Health and Safety

No Child shall be admitted who has a contagious or infectious disease. Parents shall be notified to pick up their child if the child exhibits any of the symptoms listed below:

Please keep your child home if he/she experiences any of the following:

• Fever: A body temperature of 101 or greater (recommendations – infants, six months of age or under, who have a temperature of 100 or greater should be excluded.)
• Diarrhea: three (3) or more watery stools in a 24-hour period
• Vomiting: vomiting on two or more occasions within the past 24-hour period
• Rash: body rashes, not obviously associated with diapering, heat or allergic, reactions to medications.
• Sore throat: if associated with fever or swollen glands in the neck
• Severe coughing: episodes of coughing, which may lead to, repeated gagging, vomiting or difficulty breathing.
• Pink eye: pink (or red eyes) which may be swollen with white or yellow discharge: until on antibiotics for 24 hours.
• Untreated scabies, head lice or the presence of nits: may return after treatment and removal of nits
• Multiple sores inside mouth with drooling: unless health care provider determines the condition is non-infectious
• Ringworm: a fungal infection of the scalp or skin: may return after evaluation and under treatment by a health care provider.
• Impetigo: May return 24 hours after treatment is initiated.
• Colored discharge from the nose (green or yellow)
• Any child who becomes ill will be separated from other children, supervised and parents will be called to pick up the child.
• For your child’s protection, we ask our staff to follow the same guidelines.
• If your child is being treated with an antibiotic, we ask that they should have received treatment for at least 24 hours before coming to the PDO program.
• Staff cannot administer any medications.
